OpenText Completes Acquisition of Dell EMC’s Enterprise Content Division (ECD), including Documentum

OpenText has announced the completion of its acquisition of Dell EMC's Enterprise Content Division, effective January 23, 2017.  This acquisition, which also includes the popular Documentum suite as well as other core ECM products, carried a price tag of $1.62 billion and was funded by a combination of cash on hand, stocks, senior notes, and credit.  Through this process, which has taken nearly a year, OpenText has made strides to ensure that ECD partners and their clients would experience as seamless of a transition as possible.

Dell EMC Launches ProDeploy Client Suite

Earlier this month Dell EMC announced the introduction of the ProDeploy Client Suite, a tool that helps enterprises deploy PCs faster, easier, and with better ability to control the process.  The system is offered with three service levels so that customers can fine tune services to their needs, while also enjoying available training and certification to streamline the process from start to finish.

Gartner Releases 2016 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Content Management

Gartner has released its most recent Magic Quadrant report on the state of the Enterprise Content Management industry.  In it they have found:

  • By 2018, 50% of enterprises will manage their content using a hybrid content architecture.

  • By 2018, more than 20% of the enterprise content management solution sales will address multiorganization "ecosystem" content.

  • By 2018, enterprise file synchronization and sharing will be a standard capability of enterprise content management and collaboration offerings.

Dell EMC Announces New Software Suite for Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Organizations

Dell EMC, a leader in enterprise content management solutions, has announced Suite, a unique product suite within EMC Documentum for Life Science for enterprises who operate in both the pharmaceutical and medical device industries.  Suite provides clinical, regulatory, and design history file/device master record document features to fully enhance the lifecycle of products from design to manufacturing.  Not only is it compliant with industry regulations, its use is efficient and includes quality control features that greatly assist in product trials.

OpenText Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire Dell EMC’s Enterprise Content Division, including Documentum

On September 12, 2016 OpenText announced that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire the ECD arm of Dell EMC, an acquisition that includes product lines such as InfoArchive, LEAP, and most notably the comprehensive and powerful Documentum line.  OpenText is an Ontario, Canada-based leader in Enterprise Information Management (EIM).  This acquisition will strengthen OpenText's product offerings as well as allow it to serve a broader complement of industries who depend on enterprise content management solutions to power their businesses.

PaperFree Attends Customer.Next

PaperFree recently attended the Long Beach Customer.Next event hosted by Dell EMC.  The purpose of the event was to “provide insights, interaction and engaging dialogues on the future landscape of content management” and it was attended by dozens of enterprise content management customers and ECM partners.  As part of the event, participants were treated to a series of informational sessions, labs, and networking opportunities that culminated in an end of day reception.  PaperFree representatives were on hand to promote their products, with a focus on the InfoArchive application retirement

PaperFree and the Dell EMC | OpenText Merger

Today Dell/EMC announced that they have worked out the final details of moving EMC’s Enterprise Content Division (ECD) over to OpenText, a merger that has tallied $1.6 Billion. As one of EMC’s largest Certified Partners for the Enterprise Content Division (ECD), PaperFree is pleased with the decision today to align that division with OpenText moving forward. OpenText has made a significant investment in becoming a market leader in Enterprise Information Management and with this new acquisition their positon will only be that much greater.
